Who is the Mechanic of the Spine?
Hello! I am Dr. Michael Howell, former college football player, now husband and doctor of chiropractic. I love competition, music and exploring events that bring our community together.
I was introduced to chiropractic through a childhood friend. Having been an athlete from childhood to college, the wear and tear of weekly games took a toll on my body, and I found myself in constant pain. My knee gave me the most problems and kept me from working out on a daily basis. My friend who was new to studying chiropractic at that time, related my knee pain with unbalanced hips. So, not only did he fix my knee, but he corrected my spine. From that point on I realized that I wanted to be a part of this profession.
As I did more research on chiropractic, I was amazed at how quickly people could recover from injuries, mostly without surgery. As a former athlete, I can safely say that athletes have been benefiting from chiropractic, to the point that even most professional sports teams have them in their rehabilitation program; to ensure that their most valuable players maintain optimal health and compete at their highest level without invasive procedures like surgery or taking too much prescribed medicine.
Why do I call myself the “Mechanic of the Spine?” I am fascinated by cars, especially “supercars. When your favorite car breaks down, you don’t want to go to just any mechanic. You go to a trustworthy, efficient, and experienced mechanic to make sure you hold onto your expensive investment for as long as you can. This is my philosophy for the South Pasadena Pain Relief Center. From birth, our body is programmed to be like a “supercar,” equipped to fulfill our best potential. We believe that our body’s most precious organ is the nervous system because it controls and coordinates every organ and cell in your body and spine is its armor.
At the South Pasadena Pain Relief Center, we also believe that combined with proper nutrition and exercise, chiropractic care provides answers towards recovery from pain, improved health, and a better quality of life.
My goals for this blog are simply to provide you with useful information regarding:
The science behind your pain.
Food as medicine.
Resources to prevent and maintain your spine health.
Inspiration for health and well-being in and around Los Angeles.
Thank you for stopping by my blog! I look forward to helping you and your loved ones meet your health and wellness goals and become the best version of yourselves!
In good health,
– Dr. Michael Howell, DC
